Gift Room Setup & Elves

Every dinner guest receives a generous supply of clothing, toys and gifts - delivered by our team of volunteer elves. The preparation for the Dinner begins months in advance with solicitation of donations and on December 23 and 24, the massive inventory of donated gifts need to be sorted and arranged in the Montfort Academy classrooms. If you have a couple of extra hours to spare in the days before Christmas, please consider volunteering to help set up the gift rooms for our Elves.

On Christmas Day, 27 uniformed “Elves” greet and take care of the 30 tables of dinner guests. The elves welcome and interact with the guests and write down each guest’s Christmas wish list. While the guests are eating dinner, the elves go back into the classrooms and fill their sacks with the requested items. After dessert, Santa Claus arrives and calls his elves into the room. The elves then return to the tables and hand out the Christmas presents putting a smile on everyone's face!

Gift Room Setup

Each year donations of clothing and gifts are received by our wonderful volunteers. Please consider donating 2 hours (or more) of your time to help us sort through the gifts and set them up in the classrooms. The classrooms are divided into "Men's", "Women's" and "Children's/Toys". On Christmas Day the Elves will be able to select appropriate gifts for each of our dinner guests from these classrooms. We require Holiday spirit and a smile - we can use people of all ages, sizes and abilities in the classrooms. Large groups (i.e., Girl Scout Troops can volunteer together for a group project - please email the Head Elf to inquire about these opportunities).

Elves

Elves need to be outgoing and fun, have a sense of humor and an ability to work under pressure (who knew that being an Elf was such a high-pressure job?). You will be asked to move quickly and carry somewhat large gift bags. You need to be organized, make decisions easily and play well with others. All while wearing an elf hat, red cheeks and an elf smock (really).

Elves must be over 18. Please note that there are a limited amount of spots available for Junior Elves (10-17). Please email the Head Elf in advance if you are volunteering for an Elf position and have a Junior Elf who would like to accompany you. All Junior Elves MUST be preapproved and be put on the list at the door or they cannot be allowed entry on Christmas Day (causing unnecessary upset and confusion)...so PLEASE follow this important procedure.

Additionally, Elves will be asked to attend a 30 minute Elf Orientation at 6 pm on 12/23. Please keep this in mind when volunteering for an Elf spot.
